Your Itininary
Day 1: MARRAKECH

After arriving at Marrakech airport, meet our driver and you will be carried to your hotel to have a welcome dinner.

Day 2: MARRAKECH – MHAMID

Today, go for a trip up through the high Atlas Mountain crossing the Tizi n`Tichka, Morocco`s highest mountain pass(2250m), down to the Draa valley to the desert, break with a night in Ouled Driss camp, which is located a few kilometres on the way to M’hamid.

Day 3: MHAMID – SIDI NAJI

Rise early in the morning to embark on a couple of hours of walking, tuck in a locally made lunch under the shades of the African acacias. Shortly afterwards, you can gaze at the kraab mountain range making the borders with Algeria. Have a rest before we continue our walk to the tomb site of the spiritual leader Sidi Naji, a place sought by Sahraoui women to be lucky to find a husband. Have a relaxing night in a desert camp under an array of thousand stars in a nomad's tent.

Day 4: SIDI NAJI – ERG ZAHAR

After crossing the tamarisk trees in Hamada, your feet will lead you further into the desert to the top of the enormous dunes of Zahar, the best place to gaze at the amazing sunset over desert dunes.

Day 5: ERG ZAHAR – ERG SMAR

Enjoy a few hours of leisure walking until you turn up at Erg Smar where you will feast on a local lunch. Then, hop on your camp and make your way towards Erg Laghai.

Day 6: ERG SMAR - CHEGAGA

Today, make it to the famous dunes of Chegaga, the highest in the region with dunes reaching 30m high. Your camp awaits at the foot of a sea of sand, make sure to hike up to some dune summit to stare at the breathtaking sunset today and sunrise view the following day.

Day 7: CHEGAGA – OUM LAALAG

Set out on half-day desert hiding, the route will lead you to have a break to rest in Maihat Assolah before ending up in the sacred Oasis of Oum Laalag where you will have an overnight in the camp.

Day 8: OUM LAALAG - BOUGARN

Resume the walking while exploring desert plants you have never seen before. In Midday, r each Oued Laatache (the valley of thirst) where you will have lunch and rest your leg close by a well the life source in the middle of deserted land. Afterwards, carry on to Bougarn for a free evening at leisure, and have a night under desert stars.

Day 9: BOUGARN – OUAD NAAM

Today`s destination is Oued Naam, the river of ostriches which was the home of these habitats but left a long time ago. Rest and enjoy a well-deserved meal.

Day 10: OUAD NAAM - MHAMID

Leave Oued Naam behind and take the walking path through Daraa of Hamada, a very wide rocky expanse dotted with volcanic stones. Then at the end of the afternoon go back to Ouled Driss for the last night in the camp where you can take a shower to dust off the whole adventure.

Day 11: MHAMID – MARRAKECH

On your journey back to the ochre city Marrakech, before passing through the frontier desert town Zagora, have the chance to have a break at the once religious centre, Tamgroute city with its ancient university for Islamic lessons whose library contains some priceless Medieval manuscripts, why not visit a workshop to see how those unique green pottery items are made. Once you reach Marrakech, your evening is yours to walk further in the square of Jamaa Lefna, the lifeblood of the ochre city with its constant live shows from snake charmers, musicians, and storytellers along with orange stalls and hot snail soup vendors.

Day 12: MARRAKECH

Your pick up transfer to the airport will be arranged according to your flight time, we will assist you until you board the flight back home.

How will we meet you?

Once you book your tour, one of our agents will arrange and communicate the time and meeting point. If you trekking tour includes airport transfers, then your driver will pick you up from the airport and carry you to your hotel, and the next day you will be taken to the starting point of the trekking.

How will we pay for this tour?

While you are making the booking, we request that you pay a 30% deposit of the total payment either by credit card, PayPal or a bank transfer. The remaining balance is to be paid on site only in cash. If you prefer to pay the total amount by credit card, PayPal or a bank transfer, you have to do so one month before your arrival in Morocco.

What to wear for this tour?

We advise you to bring light and soft (cotton) clothes, plus a short jacket, raincoat (During spring season) as well as a comfortable pair of sneakers.

What equipment to bring with you for this hike?

- Sleeping bags - Sunglasses - Sun and insects’ cream (for mosquitoes in particular) - A cap, or a hat, and a scarf will be very useful in the Southern region - A bath towel and your personal toiletries - 1 liter water bottle - Personal pharmacy kit that can include anti-diarrhea and intestinal anti-infection
