Start off your desert venture from Zagora on your way to M`hamid, with a break in Tamegroute for a guided visit of some inspiring simple buildings of the region. Have some time taking pleasure in exploring the palm groves of Tagounite then head towards M`hamid. The point from which you set out to Erg Chegaga then carry on to Erg Lihoudi to discover amazing dunes and oases. Your Itininary
Day 1: ZAGORA – TAMEGROUTE – M`HAMID – ERG CHEGAGA
Leave Zagora behind towards M`hamid, break the journey in Tamgroute city with a visit of some workshops to see the green unique pottery, and turn to check out a Koranic library that contains some priceless Medieval manuscripts. Enjoy lunch in Tagounite under the shades of palm groves, and then resume to M`hamid. From there, you head through the old caravan route and the sacred oasis toward the largest dunes of Erg Chegaga. Relish a view of the sunset behind the dunes, and rest for the night in your camp after a locally made dinner.
Day 2: ERG CHEGAGA – ERG LIHOUDI BEN SELMEN - ZAGORA
Wake up to a nice breakfast in the middle of the desert, then head back to Zagora passing by Erg Lihoudi, the desert passes of Ben Selman and Anagem, and along the rocky plateau and the lush palm grove.
